Russia is my homeland
1.What you know about the geographical position of Russia
Start with “I’m going to give a talk about the geographical position of the Russian Federation …”
-Russia is my native country
- It’s situated on the two continents. They are Europe and Asia
- the Urals form a natural border between the continents
- is washed by 12 seas and 3 oceans /The Pacific, the Arctic and the Antarctic
- the total area- 17million square km
- the population – more than 147 million people
-because of the territory – many nationalities
- the land of Russia varies greatly (thick forests, vast plains, high mountains, deep valleys
- the largest mountain chains – the Caucasus, the Urals, the Altai
-Russia is rich in rivers and seas /the longest river in European territory is the Volga
-the Siberian rivers – the Ob, the Yenisei, the Lena
-the deepest Lake – Lake Baikal
- a wide variety of wildlife
2. What the climate in our country is
- every possible climate from arctic in the north to subtropical in the south /climate is rater various because of the territory
- in the west- mild and wet
- the southern parts of the country – warm temperatures
-northern parts – cold winters
-in the middle of the country – continental (winters –cold, windy and snowy, summers are hot and dry
-the taiga zone – climate is severe
3. Speak about the political system of Russia
- according to the Constitution – a presidential republic
- three branches of power – legislative, executive and judicial
- the Federal Assembly represents the legislative branch/The main function is to make laws
- it’s made up of two houses – the Federal Council and the State Duma
-they both make laws
-they are headed by chairmen/ called speakers
- every law must be approved by the State Duma and the Federation Council and then signed by the president
-the Federal Government represents the executive branch of power
(consists of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers )
-The President is the head of state in Russia/is elected by people/the term –six years
- the guarantor of the Constitution
- the Constitution –the main law of Russia /it guarantees the rights and freedoms of Russian citizens
4. What places of interest in Moscow you know
-first of all tourists visit our capital
-economic, cultural, political and industrial center
- Red Square –is called the heart of Moscow /the most ancient monument – St. Bazil’s Cathedral /beautifully painted cupolas – a real masterpiece of ancient Russian architecture
-the Kremlin-very impressive /on the territory of the Kremlin you can see old cathedrals, the Bell Tower of Ivan the Great, the State Kremlin Palace, the Tsar Cannon and the Tsar Bell
-the Spasskaya Tower – the symbol of the country
-one of the famous sights is the Metro/unforgettable/unique architecture /artistic design of the stations ,which are more like palaces
5. If Moscow is the cultural part of our country (more than 80 museums (the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts , whose collection include works of the ancient Orient and ancient Egypt,The State Tretyakov Gallery, the State History Museum, the all –Russian Museum of Decorative
- lots of theatres (The Bolshoi Opera House/ The Mali Theatre)
-Drama theatres /studious /puppet theatres
- a very interesting place – the All-Russia Exhibition Centre /is situated in a beautiful park /a large commercial and cultural complex where different international exhibitions and fairs are held
